Methods to calibrate Barco monitors
Barco monitors are calibrated at the factory to a conservative 75 cd/m 2 so they can maintain calibration aim points for three years. Barco Coronis readings produced superior results when compared with all the others suggesting that there weren’t losses in the digitalizing process. Clinton monitor readings were similar the view box results and superior on both Philips monitors when compared the detection of objects on phantom images (6,5cm).
Color calibration with a dual monitor from a similar device is common with Barco Monitor walls. So professionals like that might consider it useful . Color spaces can be quite different, as regular readers of this column will attest. In a previous column , I discussed various Photoshop RGB working spaces from the standpoint of an output-centric image-editing philosophy.
Eizo is attempting to tackle the very same issue with its latest ColorEdge monitor for designers, the CG220. It offers the same focus on colour being the first 3MP medical display capable of really displaying the whole gamut of the Abobe RGB space and has an equally high price. Eizo is a bit modest with its refresh rate spec, quoting 14ms just like Apple does, compared to 11ms for Dell, and HP’s boast of 8ms. Those refresh rate specs are usually very strange and rife with weasel words, anyway, so you’ll have to use your own eyeballs to see which one is better. Eizo is the only company other than Apple to have achieved SWOP certification for its monitors.
