Beautiful Places To Purchase Kauai Real Estate

March 15th, 2010 by Bill

For anyone looking at buying property in Hawaii, especially on the island of Kauai, there are numerous areas that hold wonders many tourists never take the time to see. So, to help you in finding outstanding Kauai real estate, here are six locations in Kauai that you have to see to believe:

The Alakai Wilderness Preserve: This is a beautiful area of Kauai that is also known by the locals as Alaka’i swamp. While it’s not a real swamp, it is more of a preserve consisting of natural bogs found here. Alaka’i is near Mount Wai’ale’ale, one Earth’s wettest areas, which is shrouded in fog most of the time. The Alakai Wilderness Preserve is a great place for a hike at any time of the day.

Hanalei Bay: This is a fabulous bay with about three miles of beautiful beach. Situated on Kauai’s North Shore, Hanalei is a small town that sits about half way along the bay taking its name (or is it the other way round?), and is very friendly and a great place to live. The real estate here is either in the town or on the bay, and offers some great scenery. If you surf or dive, the bay is crystal clear and flat in summer, but offers high surf in winter. A great place to live or even for a vacation home.

Ke’e Beach: This is the ideal area for a vacation home. It offers some the best unspoiled real estate on the island, and if you have children and love swimming and snorkeling, then this is about the best Kauai real estate you could purchase. The water is clear and quiet, with few currents and next to no waves. The climate is fabulous here on the Na Pali coastline, and you couldn’t ask for more if you want solitude and peace away from the city. There is some great land around here to buy for a fabulous vacation home.

Limahuli Garden and Preserve: For any outdoors person who loves hiking and some breathtaking natural views, this preserve is where you want to be. You’ll find that it lives up to the awards that it has won - such as the best natural botanical garden in the US - and you won’t want to miss anything here when you hike. There are residential areas nearby that have homes and vacant land you can purchase from which to enjoy the views and wonders of Limahuli Gardens.

Wailua River State Park: If you like canoeing and kayaking and any other form of water sport, then this is the place for you. Kauai real estate offered here is mainly residential and surrounds the park. The scenery is magnificent, with features such as the 150-foot astounding Opaeka’a Falls that is simply breathtaking. If you buy real estate here you are committed to natural beauty and water sports that will turn any visitor to your home green with envy.

Waimea Canyon State Park: Although the continental US has the Grand Canyon, Kauai has the Waimea Canyon. Formed by a volcano millions of years ago, this canyon is filled with lush forests, beautiful rivers and waterfalls, wonderful flora and fauna and is the habitat of rare and endangered birds found only on Kauai. Located on the West Side of Kauai, Waimea Canyon is convenient to historic Waimea town and the Kekaha beach community.

These are only six of the wonderful areas you’ll find on Kauai. There are other communities and towns on Kauai, each of which offers their own charm, you’ll want to check out. There’s no shortage of beautiful locations and residences on Kauai from which to find your dream home.

Wonderful Personal Trainer Frisco Texas

March 15th, 2010 by Bill

My husband and I thoroughly enjoy working out with our personal trainer Frisco and love the results we’re getting. For a long time, the two of us would meet up at the gym, but our schedules didn’t always allow for consistency. Since we like working out together, we decided to get one of the Frisco personal trainers from Lady Trainers To Go so we could make a habit of it.

We also really like that there’s a nutritionist on staff. With both of us interested in cooking, it’s nice being able to have someone available to give guidance on the best food combinations. Not only are we learning about exercise, we’re learning about how to make better food choices. After our sessions, we’re able to cook a nice dinner and not feel guilty about what we’re eating. Between the exercise and healthy food, the two of us are looking great and feeling great.

We love working out with our personal trainer in Frisco and have every intention of sticking with it. We truly do enjoy being on a steady routine with our trainer. The two of us are thrilled we can workout as conveniently as we do—it really helps since both of us work busy schedules. More importantly, we love that we can get in shape in the one place we both feel the most comfortable. It really doesn’t matter whether you workout with a Frisco personal trainer with a buddy or alone. Having an in-home trainer working with you is a great thing. It’s worth making the call—there’s really no reason to wait if you want to get in shape.

Secrets of a Running a Successful European Conference

March 14th, 2010 by Bill

Introduction

When a company or organisation wants to put on a conference or large event, it is unlikely they would consider doing it themselves. Most companies do not have all the necessary in-house expertise, and releasing personnel from their normal work could be less cost efficient than bringing in the experts. There is also a great deal more to organising a conference than most people would realise in that it is a very stressful and technical activity. The client therefore would usually call in another company that specialises entirely in conference and event management.

There are a great many companies offering Corporate Event Management Services so competition is keen. Even if you are the best you still have to compete with others who offer lower prices and might appear to be less expensive. One of the ways of countering the cut throat business in the UK is to look at offering Conference Production Services in Europe. European managers then have the option of using a UK or EU company to provide for their Conference or Event. UK conference services are more than able to offer competitive prices. In the current economic climate with the pound at its lowest value for many years, UK companies have a distinct advantage in the EU market. .

I plan to take you through a step by step account of the stages of managing an event in Europe using examples from a recent contract in Rome.

Step 1

As a company offering conference and event management services it is vital that the quality of service provided is professional and value for money. To this end attention to detail is paramount. The project manager will know his team and the quality and reliability of the technical staff, the quality of the electronic equipment and the soundness of the sets that are used. Once these details are in place and proven on previous jobs then the pitch to the client can be confident and knowledgeable so that the client can be reassured things will run smoothly. If you can trust your team to do a good job then the client can trust you to do a good job.

Step 2

The Brief

The brief we were given was a three and a half day conference event in Rome in early February for approximately 150 international delegates attending, the majority of whom would be travelling from the USA.

Technical Specification

The technical requirement was to combine a rear projection set and a four speaker PA system with radio microphones. Also data and video switching, wireless table microphones for delegate interaction with presenters in question and answer sessions. They wanted two show laptop PC’s loaded with PowerPoint and various video software.

Step 3

A quotation was provided for all the physical hardware and the technical requirements and the services of the project manager and his team. No subcontracting was necessary. Details were agreed and the quote was accepted by the client and a contract issued. It is important to make sure you have a contract and in it, a clause for cancellation charges.

Employing an event company is a usually more cost effective and efficient than trying to use in-house employees.

Step 4

When organising any event abroad we find it more responsible and economical to use our own technical equipment and workforce who we know and trust. There are no problems with language and the team understand the technical issues that are likely to be encountered. They are used to working together, each having their strengths to contribute to the whole, and they can be trusted to do the best possible job with the minimum of fuss. However planning is a key activity particularly when organising meetings and conference events abroad. If you have forgotten something it’s too late to go back when you have driven 600 miles. So having decided to transport the full conference set, staging and equipment by van to Rome we then worked out the details of how best to achieve it.There will always be last minute and additional requirements from presenters and our team can be relied upon to deal with last minute glitches, that need immediate and effective technical support, as a matter of course.

Step 5

Transportation

The size of the event is critical to the choice of shipping. In our Rome example it was possible to convey all the required equipment in a hire van which could be driven using a standard UK driving licence. If the scale of a conference or exhibition event is much larger it would be recommended to use a dedicated freighting company to collect, deliver and return staging and technical elements to the destination. Using a dedicated freighting company also has the benefit of delivering the key personnel to the event without them being tired out after driving across Europe. In other words the team can be flown out to the event so that they are fresher on arrival. With cheap flights to Europe it can also work out more cost effective than overnight stays for eight or ten people driving en-route.

However, in this case it was decided that the event technicians would drive the van to Rome which would still be well within budget for all staging and technical elements. When hiring a vehicle it is essential to pay attention to maximum load capacity of the vehicle. The weight of the technical equipment and set must be less than the maximum load and once the main systems are onboard, care must be taken not to fill it to the brim with extra bits and pieces.

It is so easy, when being helpful, to add the client event material, such as delegate registration systems and materials, brochures, display and graphic panels. The result can easily mean that the maximum safe load allowance for the vehicle is compromised. As the load capacity is a legal necessity it is never a good idea to agree to extra items on behalf of the client without being aware of the likely impact on overall weight.

Step 6

The Journey

As the distance was twelve hundred miles there and back it was decided that with an allotted journey time of two and a half days each way to Rome would be enough. Although it would have been possible to travel to Rome in two days we have learned from experience to allow a margin for any delays en route. It also allows for the technicians themselves to be fresh enough after the road trip to be able to work effectively.

When travelling long distance across Europe and at a time of year when the weather might be inclement, it is essential that the safety of personnel and other road users is paramount. By dividing the travel time between two drivers and rotating them every two hours, we have found that neither is unduly tired. This system allows large distances of up to 600 miles a day to be covered with safety. Regular breaks help to maintain concentration and awareness, with total travel times of no more than ten hours in any day and preferably no more than eight hours a day.

Delegates on conferences rarely need to think about the conference management that has made it possible for them to enjoy the event.

Having decided on the route to be taken from the UK to Rome we left the UK via a ferry from Dover to Calais and then journeyed to an area just North of Dijon on day one. From Dijon on day two, the journey continued as far as Bologna via the Mont Blanc tunnel. We decided on day three, to make an early start for the half day drive from Bologna to Rome and deliver the equipment to the venue, then rest up for the remainder of the day so the crew would be fresh to start work the next morning.

Navigation across Europe is now much more straight forward with Satellite, but we would also recommend printed route plans and local maps of any places where a stop-over is planned. It has sometimes been the case that even with the latest updated information the Sat Nav cannot always find the precise location of the road you want, due to the ongoing construction of many new motorway networks. You may find yourself suddenly stuck on a road it doesn’t know and this is when the co-driver can be a great help to navigate you through the confusion.

Step 7

Accommodation for Overnight Stops

Choosing accommodation for suitable overnight stops is worth some research. There is a plentiful choice of motel stops near to all major roads in France and Italy all of which are reasonably priced. However, there are great guest houses away from the main cities and major roads which offer a much more relaxing experience for a tired traveller and are usually cheaper than the chain motels. Often these places have secure parking enhancing vehicle security from theft and damage. After all, when freighting audio-visual systems with a value stretching to tens of thousands of pounds, peace of mind is useful to say the least. It is advisable to spend time during pre-event production locating places to overnight. There is little benefit from having to find a room late in the day at an unknown cost which may impact on the profitability of the job.

Step 8

On Site Conference Production

On arrival in Rome we drove the van to the conference venue so that the audio-visual equipment and staging could be unloaded directly into the conference room. This was to secure the items and have everything ready for setting up the following day. Getting an early start to set up the equipment allowed for the client to begin presentation rehearsals on the afternoon of the rig day. Later on the same day there was to be an evening reception and brief welcome presentation to all attending delegates. The setting up procedures are tried and tested and the team worked like a well oiled machine so that all the audio-visual elements were complete and in place on schedule and all the technical systems were working correctly by the time the client presenters arrived from the USA.Our job is to make sure all the technical elements are set up and in working order by the time the client wants to use them and test their own systems. It is at this point that the last minute glitches will probably occur.

Step 9

Audio Visual and Production Content

An example of the kind of last minute technical hitches that has to be resolved is when a conference presenter is unable to submit his presentation during the pre-production period and will arrive on site with it in his briefcase (Probably having worked on it during his flight over). The production team will not know until late in the process what presentation format is required. However the presenter will still expect his material to be incorporated seamlessly into a master slide deck. If a conference set uses a wide screen projection format the content will need to be generated in a sixteen by nine aspect ratio. Unknown to the presenter however, the offered material may have been built around a slide template that used a four by three aspect ratio instead. Depending on content, this may have minimal effect on the look of the presentation but if there are images of people, or pie chart graphs, these will then appear as stretched and elliptical shapes which would be unsatisfactory. Fonts and text boxes may move out of alignment and embedded applications such as XL may well be impossible to read.

Some companies have highly trained staff to run av equipment for exhibitions and corporate events.

During the rehearsals for the first day of the conference one of the American presenters had travelled to site with a power point presentation containing video footage. Unfortunately the video content had not been embedded into his presentation so it did not appear as he expected. The video content was hyper-linked to files that were inaccessible from the PowerPoint presentation - supplied to us on a memory stick. Fortunately with our technical knowledge we were able to download the video from source and convert the video footage into a high resolution format that would be compatible with our audio visual systems. This is when event support specialists, who speak English as a first language and are familiar with the requirements of such last-minute complications, come into their own.

In an ideal scenario, all presentation content will have been tendered during the pre-production phase to minimise such last minute glitches, but more often than not on-site changes are required to re-format a presentation. Whilst it is by no means out of the question that a local AV company might well have been able to do the same, feedback from client events in Europe suggests that when they have used a local supplier they have often failed to be sufficiently expert to support such needs.

Step 10

During the Conference

Over the period of the two and a half day event we were able to further boost our reputation with the client and delegates. Something that they had overlooked until the last minute was to provide appropriate themed music for role-play exercises. Although it had not been part of the original conference production brief, we were able to provide apt and timely presentation support at very short notice from our on-site database of over thirty thousand music tracks.

Whilst seeming relatively trivial points in themselves the above types of scenarios can be very stressful for conference and event organisers, who already have responsibilities that go beyond the presentation content. The corporate conference event being organised by the client is a huge task of delegate management and event logistics, so that any projects that can be left to an experienced dedicated event management team such as ourselves, frees them up to focus on their own tasks of delivering a successful delegate experience.

Step 11

Language Issues in European Conferencing.

When working in Europe either as an event manager, conference producer, or production company, it is always helpful if you are able to communicate directly with the people you meet at the venue and along the way. Whilst all major event management destinations and hotels across Europe have staff who will speak English, there are occasions when they will not be available. We are happy to have colleagues with rudimentary skills in French, Spanish and German who are all keen to improve their language skills. They are prepared to have a go whenever possible to try out what they have learned and this has sometimes proved to be invaluable. It may seem obvious to say, but we recommend that at least one on your production team should have a working knowledge of the local language and should be encouraged to use their language skills as often as possible. It is often surprising how a little effort can generate a much better response from those who you are working alongside.

Conclusion

If you haven’t given much thought to the idea of working in Europe then we really recommend it. Conference events in Europe can be undertaken by a UK event production company at comparable cost to our European colleagues in the audio-visual supply sector. Favourable exchange rates add a further competitive edge to the costs of bringing your audio-visual and staging from the UK. Researching and planning the route and method by which conferencing systems are freighted and delivered will provide surprisingly low cost delivery solutions.

Taking your chosen conference production team with you to Europe will give increased peace of mind with regard to the quality of your technical support. Our client in Rome was very happy with the service and level of attention to detail we brought to their conference and repeat European corporate events are now routinely part of our conferencing diary. Fortunately our team really enjoy the experience of travelling abroad and having the opportunity during ‘down time’ to experience life in another culture and country. Particularly at the last night celebration which, rather like a topping out ceremony, tradition dictates must take place at the end of each show!

Bunny Bonanza, Houdinis Will Extravaganza

March 12th, 2010 by Bill

Your will   is drawn up to help your family sort out the disposal of your estate when you’ve expired. Whilst yours may be simple, here are one or two memorable ones.

Will’s With An Exceptional Twist
It is sensible to make a will. All of us understand this, but actually doing it seems such a chore.  How much thought went in these “wills with a difference”?

Even the famous conjurer and escapologist, Harry Houdini, couldn’t escape death. Having died from a ruptured appendix, one of his biggest surprises came with the reading of his will. His magic equipment went to his former partner Theodore, who was in addition his brother. His mystical skills didn’t work on the next section – his appreciable library of writings on magic and the supernatural. He left these to the American Society for Psychical Research, but with the condition that their research officer J Malcolm Bird, who additionally was the editor of their journal, stood down. They rejected the offer the compilation passed to the Library of Congress.

The performing rabbits that he utilised in his tricks came out of their hats and were divided around the children of friends. Continuing the strange theme, his gave his wife 10 words, which were a secret code, with the pledge that he would employ these words to contact her from the afterlife. Each year for 10 years, following his death, she faithfully held séances, but Harry never made contact.

Rock and blues singer Janis Lyn Joplin had a brief but notable history. She recorded several rock anthems and four albums, including “To Love Somebody” and “Me and Bobby McGee”. After years of substance abuse, she passed away from an overdose, aged twenty seven. Two days prior to her demise in 1970 her wills online      the sum of 2,500 dollars to fund an all night party at her favourite pub so that her friends could “get blasted after I’m gone.” It must have been some party – that was a large amount of money back in 1970.

We’ve all heard of people that, randomly, leave all their money to the cats’ home, much to the disbelief of their relatives. Many family feuds begin when a will is read. As long as there is no reason to doubt the sanity and freewill of the writer when the will is written, there is often little that can be done to object to such a decision.

Quirks apart, if you die without leaving a will, those whom you would wish to inherit wont always be the ones that do so. You might have a partner of several years, but if you’re not married or in a legal partnership, he or she won’t get your estate, heedless of your aims and assurances. This can be sad when it’s not clearly understood and can result in devastating fiscal results.

The modern method to get your will started is to go online and find a wills online      . However basic your designs are, it’s best to have the professionals to make it for you and you can be confident that you’re leaving your affairs exactly how you would want.

Special Bridal Lingerie

March 12th, 2010 by Bill

Introduction

When a woman (or man for that matter) gets married it is the most important day of their life . A great deal of time, effort and money is spent on making it the most perfect and memorable day so naturally everyone wants to look their best. Women hope to be at the peak of their looks and fitness. In biological terms it is a message to say a woman is in perfect condition to bear beautiful, healthy children for her mate. Most women go to extraordinary lengths to be the best they can be. Some lose pounds in weight; others spend lots of pounds on hair do’s and facials, not to mention the financial outlay on the dress. Just as important is the lingerie as this usually plays the supporting role. Much more attention is now given to the wedding lingerie for this important day. No self respecting woman would go to her wedding without having made the greatest effort to look her best from top to toe and that includes the underwear for the day.

Choosing the Perfect Bridal Lingerie

What to wear under your wedding dress? Whatever dress style you have chosen for your big day, having gorgeous bridal lingerie with the right balance between comfort, control, and sexiness is vitally important. Although it may not be much talked about it is essential to ensure the underwear is selected to provide the best possible outline and support to enhance your wedding dress. One person I know had the most beautiful slim line dress however because she was so slim she did not have enough bosom to fill the boned top. Altering the dress would have spoiled the line and proportion so she chose to wear a liquid filled bra which filled it out nicely and made all the difference.

Lingerie for the Wedding Night

As well as the undergarments for the wedding day, there is the consideration of the wedding night apparel. A special wedding night only happens once, so no matter what your body shape and size, choosing sexy lingerie can really make your honeymoon sizzle.

There is no one right answer to what you choose for your wedding night. You may feel self conscious about a certain part of your body and prefer to cover up. Lingerie is often a long term investment, so a selection of colours may appeal, but for the actual wedding night, white, ivory, or a soft light pink is a nice touch. If you have bought a fancy piece of lingerie for your wedding night you might want to let him use the bathroom first, or take a moment for yourself after returning to the hotel, so that you can take your time to put on your new sexy lingerie. You can then make your grand entrance and appreciate the look on your husband’s face. Of course you might decide not to bother at all and to simply peel off your dress in front of your new husband to reveal a garter belt. The main thing is that you feel good in whatever you wear, or are not, wearing.

What about Plus Size Lingerie?

Most lingerie shops and online suppliers stock a extensive range of regular and plus sizes which are very flattering. Oprah’s comment on plus sizes was ‘don’t worry, your new husband already loves your body and will certainly enjoy it accented by sexy silk and lace’.

Most brides want to look sexy in their bridal underwear as well as feeling comfortable throughout their wedding day.

History of Bridal Lingerie

Years ago young women would start putting away items in their bottom drawer in readiness for the day they got married. Once there was a prospective husband in sight they would spend the evenings sewing their trousseau in preparation for their wedding day and life as a new wife. Rich families would have the trousseau made for them with going away outfits and underwear and nightwear to last for many years. That way the new husband did not have to lay out money for his wife’s clothes for some time. Less well off families made these garments themselves and would make petticoats, bloomers and bust supports all sewn by hand. I remember my grandmother using a stitch known as shell stitch to hem petticoats giving them an attractive scalloped edge.

The word trousseau suggests mostly underwear and nightwear for the bride although outer wear was also part of the itinerary. An article from the New York Times 1912 outlines a guide to ‘The Lingerie for the Summer Bride’. It states that ‘no wardrobe is so fascinating to gather and plan for as the trousseau’ It suggests that a dozen of all undergarments are required but if necessary 8 pairs of drawers (knickers to you and me) were sufficient, except for petticoats where six would be enough. It advises not to have too many clothes because the fashions might alter in six months and your garments would be outmoded. It says it is better to have a few good quality gowns rather than many cheaper ones. Although cheaper underwear would be acceptable as the cut would be just as good as for the more expensive items. To complete the bridal trousseau it was essential to have a negligee for the wedding night and the article advises two for the honeymoon.

For the respectable woman it was important to wear the correct clothes for different occasions. It seemed you were what you wore and your status in society was judged by your clothes. The richer you were the more elaborate and expensive the costumes. Naturally to be correctly dressed you would also have the appropriate lingerie to wear underneath. However the regular lingerie women wore on a daily basis would be the same on their wedding day, except that it would usually be new. No self respecting woman would go out without wearing the correct clothing, and even when I was young my mother would never go out without wearing her smart clothes.

Even today there are some women who put on clean underwear to go out because of the traditions and how were raised. People would wear their old underwear around the house because it usually had holes in. The basis for putting on their best underwear was, that if they had an accident they would not be shamed if they were seen wearing old underwear. Obviously this is a very outmoded idea now because clothes are so much cheaper and readily available than they used to be with the result that very few people need to ever wear worn out underwear.

Do you know that old saying: - Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? It is interesting how these old sayings are handed down and we still pay homage to them when the time comes. When I got married I was well supplied with the borrowed as I had borrowed both the dress and the veil from different people. My satin shoes were old having been worn for formal dances and I had a blue bow on my underskirt. My main problem was having anything new so in the end I bought some lingerie to wear on the day.

A great deal of thought goes into the items designated as the wedding lingerie and is an important part of the bride’s trousseau.

The Bridal Shower

The Bridal Showers is a relatively new idea in Britain although it is common in the States. It is believed to have begun in Holland when a young couple who did not have a dowry were given gifts from the people of the town instead. This also suggests the beginning of the custom of giving presents when people get married, as dowries are not common place in our western culture.

The bridal shower term may have arisen from a particular party where one of the guests opened an umbrella full of gifts over the head of the bride to be. Hence the term ‘Shower’. Bridal showers have different themes and one is the lingerie bridal shower which is traditionally an all female event. A lingerie party involves more romantic gifts than the usual bridal shower. These parties are a great way to give personal gifts that are just for the bride herself or to share with her soon to be husband. The chief bridesmaid or matron, of honour is generally the initiator and hostess of the lingerie bridal shower. It is her job to invite the female friends and any family of the bride that would delight in the party and then each guest brings a gift of lingerie.

Lingerie for Men

So far our focus has been on women’s Lingerie but in today’s more affluent society, even though there is a credit crunch, men are increasingly conscious of their underwear and how their bodies look in it. In the past men mostly did physical work so without any thought on their part, they developed strong muscular bodies when they were in their prime of life, particularly in the farming community where there was plenty to eat. However today men mostly have inactive jobs and need to go to the gym and exercise etc to develop the muscle they desire. To go with their awareness of developing their physique men are now more concerned with the style of their underwear.

It is interesting how fashions seem to go full circle. Many years ago men wore Long-Johns in the cold weather especially when they were working out of doors, now they have become stylish thermal underwear for sports activities. Also when I was young I remember my father wearing boxer type underwear. Then 20 years later Y fronts were the rage and there were the jokes about John Major wearing his Y fronts on the outside. In fact there was a serialised cartoon in the Guardian featuring John Major with his underpants on the outside. Then 20 years on again boxer shorts are back in vogue with a designer label. Even the latest brief boxer shorts do not look much different from the original version of the Y fronts, but they still call them boxers. And I won’t go into thongs and other specialist items of male underwear!

So be assured that lingerie is not just a subject for women, men also make it, design it, and buy it. Women aren’t the only ones who can wear something sexy on their wedding night so having bought all your own new underwear for your special day, how about kitting out your fiancée with some special new men’s underwear as well? Men like designer underwear too and may also enjoy some silky new boxers or a robe to wear around the hotel room.

Buy your man some really luxurious designer boxer shorts for his big day so he will feel as special as you.

Evolution of Lingerie

At one time the wearing of underwear was exclusively a masculine prerogative. Between 1830 and 1914 women relied on several layers of fabric under the dress and long skirts to cover themselves. The corset from earliest times was intended to create a body shape that disguised the natural form but over time it evolved to accentuate the bust and reduce the size of the waist.

Lingerie originally came into being for the purpose of covering the body for modesty and for personal hygiene. In the beginning these undergarments were designed all in one piece and were not exactly what we would consider sexy. But, with a little help from the French, the revolution in women’s underwear evolved as a sexy and deadly weapon when the revealing two pieces lingerie was introduced. From 1914 the Taly bodice came into being which consisted of silk fabric that surrounded the breasts for support, and we know it today as the bra. During this period women were socially empowered in conjunction with their release from the corset.

Between 1910 and 1919 Isadora Duncan the dancer deeply inspired lingerie fashion, by leaving off corsets to free the body for full movement of the dance. During the period between the thirties and fifties there was little sensual interest for underclothes; they were conservative and practical. This was probably because this period was just after the depression and then during, and just after the Second World War. It was a time of hardship and there were shortages of fabric, food and money, to such an extent that rationing was introduced in the early forties.

During the sixties the “hippie movement” generated a breakthrough attitude towards lingerie. Women were encouraged to burn their bra’s and allow their bodies to be free of restraint of any kind. However since the 80’s, lingerie has become a desired fashion statement helped by the sexual icons of the time such as Madonna. Ann Summers lingerie with her sales parties became the designer underwear to have. At the present time women choose with equal attention their undergarments and sometimes with more emphasis than the outer clothes.

The evolution of lingerie follows or maybe leads the changes in the standing of woman. From being the victims of attacks and violations with no rights of their own (and no underwear), women have developed into what we know today. The modern woman is confident and strong and comfortable with her own power. Lingerie has become a sociological phenomenon demonstrating the authentic self of a woman and with that women have multiplied their spending on sexy lingerie and undergarments.

Conclusion

So whatever your preferences, a woman likes to spend time getting her bridal lingerie right. It has always been a time of female sharing and intimacy of what to wear and how to be on the wedding night. These days of course couples often live together before marriage sometimes for many years, so the old mixture of secrecy and excitement and even fear have all but disappeared. However the wedding day and wedding night are still unique times and undressing to reveal your underwear has its place. Choosing something different, more exotic or titillating will help make the event memorable and something special to be treasured in the years to come.
