Samsung 3D TV

Since the release of the 3d movie Avatar, there has been a lot of buzz about 3d TV. A TV that is 3D ready can be viewed in both 2D and 3D. LCD shutter glasses must be used to view 3D TV. The shutter glasses interact with the 3D ready TV creating a stereoscopic image.

3D ready TVs usually support HDMI 1.4 and a minimum refresh rate of 120Hz. Samsung and Mitsubishi are utilizing DLP technology from Texas Instruments and as of January of this year have begun releasing the first 3D ready TV sets. In February of this year the Samsung 3D ready tv, model # UN55C7000 was released to the public.

The entertainment industry is moving things toward a common standard for all 3D technology.Issues being attended to are frame rate, and 3D glasses which come in either active or passive, as well as bandwidth, blu-ray issues and recording formats. In April of this year Comcast and DirectTV will air the Masters Tournament in 3D.
