The Harry Potter novels and movies have an enthused group of followers all over the world

I am deeply fascinated by the tremendous universal vogue of the Harry Potter books. The Harry Potter novels were written by the UK writer J.K. Rowling. She saw the light of day on 31 July 1965. Her full name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the short form J.K. Rowling because in the beginning her publisher thought it was a good move to hide the fact that she is a woman. The publishing company thought it could have a negative effect on the sales numbers if everybody instantly recognizes that the writer is a woman. Consequently, instead of using her first name she used two letters. As she has no middle name she chose Kathleen as basis for the K. in her pen name. Kathleen is the name of her grandmother.

The initial Harry Potter novel – Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone – was publicized in the year 1997 in in Great Britain. Quite mentionable is the matter that only 1,000 pieces of the first book were released at the beginning. The original title of the novel was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the book was published to the American market in 1998, it was publicized as Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

After that J.K. Rowling invented six more Harry Potter stories. Now the Harry Potter series is made of a total of 7 stories. These are:

  • Vol. 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Vol. 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Vol. 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Vol. 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Vol. 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Vol. 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Vol. 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Harry Potter novels have been translated into more than 65 languages and have been released in various countries. Besides the impressing success in the United States and Great Britain, Harry Potter is also very favored in the EU. The Harry Potter stories have been published in Germany under these headers:

I must admit that I did not have the opportunity to read all the novels. But there are kids who know them all, which is very impressive and is part of the huge success.
